Grady is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane Stewart Grant Chasteen; son Jeffery Stewart Chasteen and wife Deborah of Athens, Ga.; and daughter Shari Power and husband Chuck of Greenville, S.C., grandson Montana Lee Power of Greenville, S.C., sister Lou Ellen Grant, brother Jimmy Chasteen, brother Danny Chasteen, sister Darleen Mason and many cousins.
Grady was preceded in death by; father Thad Chasteen and mother Grace Chasteen; brother Jerry Chasteen, an infant brother and sister Usona Tomberlin.
Grady was active in his church duties at Piedmont Park UMC for 52 years. He was a current member of Jackson Grove UMC.
Grady was a member of the Early V-8 Ford Car Club and Upstate Cruisers Car Club.
Grady's career was as a manager of a sewing department in textiles for JP Stevens and later, a retail manager for Advance Auto Parts.
Grady was generous, a mentor, advisor and friend to all.
A visitation for Grady will be held Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. A Celebration of Life and Resurrection Service, officiated by Pastor Dave Wilmer, Reverend Alice MacKeil and Pastor Lynn Pennington, will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow service in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Serving as Pallbearers are Michael Chasteen, David Chasteen, Roy Chasteen, Carson Couch, Jared Smith, Evan Rice and Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Early V-8 Ford and Upstate Cruisers Car Clubs.
