Hansel Steve Kay, 72, husband of Peggy Lawson Kay for 52 years, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2022. He was born in Greenville, SC to the late Hansel James Kay and Eunice Major Kay. He retired from Michelin after 33 years. He loved the Clemson Tigers, coaching in his younger years and working in the garden planting flowers. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the soda shop.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Shane (Travis) Kay, Brandi (Kristin) Costello and Hunter (Rachel) Kay; grandchildren: Teagan Costello, Ryleigh Costello and Kaelyn Costello; siblings: Gene (Janice) Kay, Jerry (Donna) Kay and Wanda Lee. He is predeceased in death by a brother, Donnie Kay.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday January 9, 2023 at Mackey Funeral and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville, SC 29609, with Rev. James Brown officiating, and burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday January 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
