Harold Edwin Hancock,77, entered heaven on November 8, 2024, born on March 24, 1947 to the late James Walter Hancock and Sylvia Katherine Slaton Hancock in Evansville Indiana. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Harold's life embodied kindness, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Harold began his career as a skilled journeyman wireman, proudly serving as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Owensboro, Kentucky. Later, he channeled his compassion and commitment into his role as Owner and President of Colonial Terrace Nursing Facility in Sebree, Kentucky, a position he held for over 30 years. Through his ownership with his wife, Rhonda, he fostered a caring environment that made a lasting impact on residents, families, and staff alike.
Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda Tompkins Hancock. High school sweethearts, Harold and Rhonda shared 55 wonderful years of marriage, bonded by a deep and abiding love for each other and their shared faith in Jesus Christ. Together, they raised two children who were his pride and joy: Chad Hancock (Andrea) of Onton, Kentucky, and Kelly Hamilton (Daniel) of Greenville, South Carolina. His legacy also lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Caroline, Rivers, Greyson, and Asa Hamilton of Greenville, SC; and Hadley and Hunter Hancock of Onton, KY, who will always remember him as a gentle, wise, and loving “Papaw.”
Harold’s love for the outdoors was a defining part of his life, giving him a deep connection to nature through hunting, fishing, and enduro racing in his earlier years. He also had a lifelong passion for classic cars, especially the 1966 Chevy Chevelle, which he owned and restored. Known for his tender heart, quick wit and warm personality, Harold was a true “people person” with a remarkable ability to form lasting friendships and make everyone feel welcomed. A special tribute is extended to Brother Bob and Debbie Gish, Harold’s longtime pastor and dear friends, whose spiritual influence and unwavering support deeply enriched his life. Their guidance and prayers were a source of strength and inspiration to Harold throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Harold’s name to Blessing Israeli Believers, an organization close to his heart (P.O. Box 564, Pearland, TX 77588).
Harold’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. May his memory be a lasting blessing.
