
Born in Bryson City, NC, Mr. King was the son of the late Warren Nickerson King and Lucy Eleanor Hancock King. He served with the U.S. Marines in South Pacific during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was an Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. King served as a deacon and elder at Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville. He was a technical representative and instructor employed by James M. Pleasants Co. from which he retired.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean Simmons Huff King and a son, Warren N. King, III. He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis K. Ritchie (Douglas) of Six Mile, SC and Susan E. King (Willis) of Anderson, SC; a son, John H. King of Greenville, SC; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia King of Columbia; a sister, Caroline K. Ryer of Easley, SC; five grandchildren, Dirk D. Ritchie, Mark H. Ritchie (Jennifer), Elizabeth K. Thomas (Baron), Kathleen F. King and Emma H. King; and two great-grandchildren, Lillian and Tessa Thomas.
A memorial service to celebrate Mr. King’s life will be held at 3pm Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Second Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
