Harry Edward Hardin Jr., age 79 passed away on Wednesday February 19, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Harry was born April 13, 1940 in Bessemer, Alabama to the late Saddie Russell Hardin and Harry Hardin. Harry married Virginia Maxine Shadrick on June 10th, 1960 in Bessemer, AL. Harry graduated from Auburn University with a BS in business administration (accounting major) in June 1962. He spent the majority of his career, over 25 years, at Carisbrook Industries as VP of Finance.

Harry was an avid fan of Auburn University and he loved Auburn football. He passed his passion for football and his Auburn Tigers to his children and grandchildren.

Harry was very active and performed service activities in his home church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Greenville, SC.

Harry dedicated his life fulfilling his promise to his mother to take care of his younger sister with special needs, Linda. Harry fulfilled his promise with love and dedication.

Harry's main loves were his family, church, friends, playing golf, Auburn University and Litchfield Beach.

Harry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine Hardin; daughter Karen Stewart (Sammy); son Ed Hardin; daughter Beth Clark; and son-in-law Joel Clark. Also, surviving are Harry's grandchildren; Elliott Hardin, Alex Clark, and Abigail Clark. Also left to cherish Harry's memory are many nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by; son-in-law Samuel (Sammy) Stewart; father Harry Hardin and mother Saddie Russell Hardin; sister Joyce Phillips; sister Betty (Bobby) Blanchard and sister Linda Hardin.

A visitation for Harry will be held Monday, February 24, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7 Shannon Dr, Greenville, SC 29615. A funeral service will occur following visitation in the Sanctuary of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. A burial will occur Monday, February 24, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1901 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville, SC 29609.

Harry was a heart transplant recipient so in lieu of flowers, contributions in Harry's memory may be made to American Heart Association, www.donatenow.heart.org; and Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7 Shannon Drive, Greenville, South Carolina 89615 US, www.aumc.org.

Harry was a wonderful Christian man. I always loved talking to him, with his southern accent. He has been a great father-in-law to my son and I’ve always appeared that. My heart breaks for the family.
