J. Hugh Stephens

Hugh is survived by his children: Juli S. Morrow (Jack) and John H. Stephens, Jr. (Julie); grandchildren: Hugh Stephens (Brandee), Phil Stephens (Lea), Emma Stephens, Rachel Stephens, Duncan Morrow, and David Morrow; and a great granddaughter Sophie Stephens. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Gary Stephens (Cindy), and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Patricia Duncan Stephens and a sister, Margaret Ann Wingate (Dewey).

Hugh served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War before returning home to complete his textile manufacturing degree from Clemson Agricultural College in 1956. He then embarked on a long and successful sales career in the textile and industrial metals industries. Hugh was a devoted and longtime member of First Baptist Church Greenville.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:30 am Friday, November 5, 2021 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Greenville Preschool Ministry or Mission Ministry at 847 Cleveland Street Greenville SC 29601.
