

Jack Brooks Shuford, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away on June 18, 2026, at the age of 93. Jack was the loving husband to Patsy Cearley Shuford for 68 years and father to two children, Jackie Shuford McKeithan and John Frederick Shuford.
Jack was born in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late Fred & Ruth Shuford and attended the University of North Carolina (1955), earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. During his time at UNC, he played varsity football for two years.
Professionally, Jack worked for Proctor & Gamble (1955-1971) and then for Speidel (Textron division) until 1993. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville for 67 years.
Upon retirement, Jack found great joy and purpose in giving back to children and young adults in his community. He and Patsy delighted in opening their home to guests from around the world, welcoming visitors from Chile, Haiti, Morocco, and Singapore.
Jack took great pride in a lifetime of accomplishments, many rooted in his passion for mentoring. He served as head coach of the Wade Hampton Cherokees youth football team for eight years, compiling an extraordinary record of 82–2–1. He also coached Northwood Little League for seven years, leading the team to four state championships. In addition, Jack was a National Life Master with the American Contract Bridge League and served as an umpire for Northwood Little League for three years.
His commitment to service extended beyond athletics. Jack tutored students through the Greenville Literacy Association, Rev. Sylvester Golden’s Tutorial Library, and Centerquest at Greer Christian Learning Center. He also served as a Guardian Ad Litem from 1998 to 2000 and as President of the Northwood PTA.
Jack's memory will always be cherished by his wife Patsy Cearley Shuford, daughter Jackie Shuford McKeithan (Mac), daughter-in-law Laura Odom Shuford, grandchildren Malcolm McKeithan, Kathryn Shuford Fanning (Matt), Jackson Shuford (Natalie), and 7 great-grandchildren.
Jack was predeceased by his son John Frederick Shuford (Laura).
A funeral service to honor Jack's life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026 in the chapel of Mackey Funerals & Cremations at 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
