Jackie devoted her life to being a wife, mother, Memaw and daughter of the Lord. She spent many years as a preschool teacher and dedicated much of her life to serving at Overbrook Baptist Church, where she faithfully sang in the choir. She enjoyed working in her yard, sewing, doing puzzles, cooking, baking, and watching the Atlanta Braves. Despite losing many things to Alzheimer's, she never lost her smile, laughter, or her beautiful voice.
Born in Richmond, Virginia, Jackie was the daughter of Jack McKenney and Moiselle Giammarco (Dante). She is survived by her sister, Maureen Buntin (Presley Thomas); daughters, Sherry Bednar-Padgett and Laura Horton (Drew); and her grandchildren, Hunter Padgett (Brooke Pruitt), Taylor Padgett (Jeremy Spann), Madison Poole (Tyler), Hadley Horton, Griffin Horton, and Zoe Horton; her great-grandchildren, Blakely, Cash, Noah, Lolen, and Parkes; and her dear friends, Pete and Gerry Bednar and Amy James.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewie Miller; her son, Brian Bednar; and her son-in-law Enrique Soto.
Jackie's final years were marked by the devoted love and care she received while living in the home of her granddaughter, Taylor Padgett, and Jeremy Spann. For six years, their home became a place of comfort, laughter, cherished memories, and deep family connection. They are profoundly grateful for the privilege of sharing this season of life with her and for the joy she brought to their home each day.
The family extends great appreciation for the kindness and presence of the hospice nurses, aides, and bonus granddaughter, Lizzie Pellicano, that cared for Jackie. The dedicated, compassionate care and unfailing support they provided not only to her but also to her entire family for many years will never be forgotten.
Jackie will be remembered for her bright smile, beautiful voice, steadfast faith, servant's heart, and consistent love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, taught, and loved so well.
