

He was born in Greenville, SC on July 10, 1943, to the late Thomas Allen and Tallulah Mims Bettis. Mr. Bettis served in the US Air Force. Upon his return, he lived in Charlotte, NC almost forty years and worked the majority of his life with Kennedy Valve and Grinnell Pipe & Valve in Charlotte NC
In May 2016, Jim returned to Greenville to be cared for by his sisters.
Surviving are his wife Sue Ivester Bettis of Charlotte, NC, a daughter Celeste Bettis Haynie of Anderson, SC and grandchildren, Tyler, Austin and Celestia Haynie. Also surviving are step son Wesley Finger and his son Thomas, sisters Louanne Bettis and Betty Jo Glenn (Gary) Greenville, SC., and nephews, Tab Bettis and Chad Bettis.In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother Thomas Allen Bettis Jr.
A special thanks to his niece Keri Johns and her husband Rev. Jeremy Johns for their support during this time. The family is grateful for the care Jim received at Greenville Hospital and McCall Hospice House.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Charlotte, NC at a later date.There will be a private Family burial at Springwood Cemetery
