Jim Hardwick grew up in Gastonia, North Carolina and was the son of the late Jessie Mae Hardwick. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Core during the Korean War. After serving his country, Hardwick moved back to Greenville and worked many years for Cooper Motor Lines and Watkins. In 1965, he founded Hardwick Printing Service, Inc. Hardwick’s passion for aviation lead him to become one of the founding members of the Ole Time Fly Boys. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a forty-year member of the Greenville Civitan Club, and enjoyed opening the Life Center each morning with his friends.
Hardwick encouraged, supported, and loved his grandchildren and was delighted in their dreams and achievements.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Hardwick Harris (John); a son, James L. Hardwick, Jr.; three grandchildren, Jessie Parker Kelly (Chris), Bobby G. “Trace” Parker III (Amanda), and Austa Marie Parker; five great-grandchildren, Parker Kelly, Catherine Kelly, Bo Parker, Jack Parker and Tripp Parker.
In addition to his mother Hardwick was predeceased by his second wife, Charlotte Jean Hardwick.
The family will receive friends at Mackey Mortuary from 2:00 P.M. until 3:30 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2018. A family burial will follow.
