Jan was born in Kannapolis, NC on January 15, 1945. She was the daughter of Sarah Frances Goodwin Weaver and William Lloyd “Bill” Weaver.
She attended Winthrop University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in music education with a choral certificate. She taught music in schools and after having her daughter, she taught piano lessons to children in her home. She was a proud member of the handbell choir at First Baptist Church and wrote a lot of her own music. She composed a warm up melody “Peace, Love, and Joy” for the handbell choir and it will be played at the funeral services. Jan also enjoyed going to the beach with her grandchildren and looking for seashells, especially sand dollars. She almost always had a Dr. Pepper in hand!
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband John Henry Smetana and her brother William Leslie “Les” Weaver.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristin Ann Dominguez and son-in –law Damien Dominguez of whom she was so proud of. Also, three grandchildren whom she adored: Rivers Ann, Skye Ann, and Valentino John Dominguez. She is cherished by her nephew Josh Weaver and sister-in-law Frances Weaver.
The funeral will be Saturday May 1 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church. (847 Cleveland Street Greenville, SC).
