Jan Peter Stenberg

Jan was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, but lived in Greenville, SC, for most of his life. He graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts. He traveled the world as a textile engineer. In his later life, he served as the head of the Industrial Technology Department at Greenville Technical College.

Jan is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Emerson Stenberg; children: Sven Peter Stenberg and Christine Stenberg Lites, son in law John Thomas Lites, Jr.; grandchildren: Griffin, Emerson, and Avery Lites. He also leaves behind his brother, Richard Stenberg, sister, Suzanne Herring, and sister-in-law, Betty Emerson Towle., and a number of beloved nieces and nephews and other family members.

A memorial service will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Greenville, SC, on September 5, 2021 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will take place prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Aldergate United Methodist Church or Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia, SC.
