Born in Athens, GA, she was the daughter of the late William Carlisle and Mae Belle Esco Fant.
Janice was a graduate of Greenville General Hospital Nursing School. While her nursing career was short, her long life career was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Christian, and a humble Daughter of God the Father, the most high King. She was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church where she served on the Mercy Team and was a part of several medical mission trips. She loved to collect primitive antiques, develop land/subdivisions, read the Bible and help others in need.
Her character and life reflected Galatians 5:22, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Jan believed that the Bible is the infallible Word of God and that every Word is true. She believed that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that God sent His only Son to die in our place so that if we believed in Him and accepted Him as our Lord and Savior, we would be saved and have eternal life with Him. John 3:16 “For God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Jan is survived by her loving family; her daughter Janice Gilmore Lockhart and her husband Bruce; sons, William Dennis Gilmore, III and his wife Kim; Lesley Carlisle Fant Gilmore and his wife Mallory; sisters, Glynda Ann Eddy and Wanda Kay Georges; grandchildren, Jennifer Elizabeth Gilmore; Janice Lauren Lockhart; Laura Brae Hughes; William Conner Gilmore; and great grandchild, Elijah William Gilmore.
