Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Jean delighted in her family and friends and they all felt the same about her. She was a lively creative spirit, who created beauty wherever she was. One way she expressed that throughout her life was in her love of plants and gardening. Whether full garden beds, patio planters, or windowsill pots, she had a green thumb and we and her neighbors benefitted from the beautiful plantings. She was a talented painter and crafter. Her home is more beautiful because of that.
Her love language was preparing delicious food and hosting a happy gathering around her table. She had deep enjoyment of life and was often ready to tackle new adventures. Just ask any who knew her about the motorcycle trips she took with Bill around this country. She was a devout Christian with a very personal love of Jesus that was front and center every living moment.
Jean is survived by her husband William (Bill) Rogers, her children Sherry Smith, Sandra (Sam) Jones, Rose Marie (Chuck Soldano) Lee, Caroline (Doug) Finnell, Jill (Gayle) Sutton; grandchildren Casey (Greg) Koehler , Stephen (Trey) Hayes Lee III (Breana), Megan Lee, Sophie Finnell; great-grandchildren Harper Kate Lee, Evelyn Rose Lee. Chelsie (Andrew) Torres and great-great grandchild Tanner Torres. Jean is also survived by her twin sister Janet Splawn and many beloved nieces, nephew, and other family and friends.
She was pre-deceased by her mother Dorothy Owings, father Eldon Owings, and sister Rose Dukes.
A graveside service for Jean will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, South Carolina 29609.
