Born in Gastonia, NC, she was a daughter of the late Willam and Berdele Cabe Emory.
Jessie enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jessie and her former husband, Fred Horton, opened and operated several restaurant locations between the early 1950’s and 1970’s in Greer and Greenville areas.
She retired from Furman University bake shop. Following her retirement she filled her days working at Tommy’s Ham House.
Jessie is survived by a daughter, Linda Robertson (Stephanie), sons, Doodle Horton (Vicki) and Woody Horton; grandchildren, Keith Robertson, Stacy Lowe, Jared Horton (Mary) and Syd Lewis; three great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Alfred, Joyce Farthing and Carol Boozer.
In addition to her parents, Jessie was pre-deceased by a son, Bobby Horton a granddaughter, Amy Horton and eight siblings, Grace Bowen, Grady Emory, Viola Littleton, J.R. Emory, Lela Emory, Juanita Greene, Pauline Bowers and David Emory.
A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM, in the Serenity Mausoleum Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local American Cancer Society.
