Jodie Matthews Keener, age 63, of Taylors, SC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, surrounded by her family as she willingly gave others an opportunity at life through organ donation.
Born and raised in Greenville, SC Jodie graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1979. After graduation she began her career as a banker, she retired as a Manager from First Citizens Bank but returned to banking working with Pinnacle Bank, Carolina Alliance and United Community Bank.
Her smile was infectious and she never met a stranger. Jodie loved all things outdoors, traveling, boating, fishing, water skiing and being on the beach. She also enjoyed spending time gardening and as a devoted fan cheering on the Clemson Tigers football team. Jodie also gave her spare time to organizations and charities such as the March of Dimes, Juvenile Diabetes, and the PTA. She served as Treasurer for the Greenville County PTA, South Carolina State PTA, and Lee Road United Methodist Church, where she was also a faithful member for over 20 years. In addition, she was an advocate for the Ronald McDonald House as well as Organ Donation.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Donald Matthews, her grandparents Isaac and Hattie Matthews, Ben and Lena Garland and her father-in-law William Keener.
Jodie is survived by her loving husband Michael Keener, stepson Chris (Tabitha) Mooney of Ridgeville, SC; son Chase McJunkin of Taylors, SC; daughter Jessica (Savannah) Keener of Campobello, SC; grandchildren Steven, Cason and Saylor. Also her mother Betty Matthews and sister Tanya Merril.
Services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Lee Road United Methodist Church, 1377 East Lee Rd., Taylors, SC 29687. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
