John Stephen "Steve" Farnsworth

Steve was born on August 6, 1947, in Greenville, SC to the late James and Elizabeth (Earle) Farnsworth.

In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his brothers James F. Farnsworth and Richard O. Farnsworth.

Steve married Line Gemme on January 16, 2008. Line has continuously cared for Steve throughout their marriage and most recently during his failing health. While Steve’s career was focused on insurance sales, he was always most excited about his “career” at the University of Georgia. Steve accepted a full scholarship to the University of Georgia in 1965. Steve lettered three years at UGA and was a part of two SEC championship teams. His love for the University and the city of Athens never wavered. In his free time, Steve loved to hunt, fish, and play guitar. None of these compared to his love for the Georgia Bulldogs. One of Steve’s most talked about memories was listening to the Georgia-Auburn game in 1982 while enjoying a hunting trip. In Steve’s later years, he continued his love of the sport by volunteering for the Brevard College football team. Steve loved energetic music from Elvis Presley to Motown.

Steve is survived by his wife, Line Gemme Farnsworth of Spartanburg, SC; children Stephen (Anne) Farnsworth, Wakefield, RI, and Charlotte (Brian) Baker Nolensville, TN and their mother, Adele Beganie, Arrington, TN; grandchildren Olivia and Graham Baker; brothers David (the late Sandy) Farnsworth, Bob (Mary Barrett) Farnsworth, and Hal (Mary Beth) Farnsworth.

A Memorial Service for Steve will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
