Dear Papa,

Many people knew you as John Hall. Fewer have known you as a close friend, and even fewer have known you as family. But for me, I’ve been granted the honor to call you papa, Mr.FixIt, a best friend, and mentor. Growing up spending countless summers with you building legos and k’nex on the porch, washing and waxing the car, learning to ride a bike (without training wheels might I add), and climbing the magnolia tree in the backyard are just a few of the many memories I’ve made while looking up to you. You were one of the first influencers of my life and have taught me more than I could ever repay. I’ve seen you as a brother, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather, and husband all of which have made me the man I am today. You’ve stood by me from my birth, receiving my Eagle Scout, graduating high school, graduating college, my engagement, my wedding, and the birth of my son. You’ve checked every box, and supported me every step of the way. You’ve shown more love and support than words can explain and as I sit here reminiscing over the past 31 years of life with you I find myself with not a single complaint. And while I miss our Thanksgiving trips to myrtle beach counting people (even if only one soul was on the beach), sitting next to you in church, and of course being your #1 IT support guy; You’ve done your part for this world, you’ve shown compassion, humility, support, and most of all love for those around you and even those who aren’t. I can only hope to one day become a man half as impressive as you. I assure you I will carry your legacy on thru my children, they will grow up knowing the man you were. Even though temporary , this distance will be hard but I look so forward to the day where I will walk in your presence and see that smile again. Rest easy papa, you’ve earned every bit of your time with our father in heaven. I love you more than words can explain.

Rita, Kayla, Johnny and family Mike and I are so sorry for your loss.  John was definitely one of a kind.  We have such good memories of our times with him, Rita, Mother and Daddy.  We did a lot of going out together to the Lakeview Steak House in Greer and to New Years Eve parties while Mike and I were living in Greenville.  (We never had to twist my Daddy's arm to go out and eat and I think John was a lot like Daddy in that way. )
We are really glad that we got the chance to meet up with y'all at the beach and have a meal at Prossers.  We just want each of you to know how much we love each of you and how much we loved John. The loss of our loved ones leave such a void in our lives and I don't think there ever comes a time when you don't  just feel the urge to talk to them and just wish you had a little more time with them.  I know God will carry each one of you through this and will give you comfort and peace when you need it most.  We love you all.
