Jonathan was born in Greenville, S.C. on April 20th, 1978. He served proudly in our U.S. Army for 12 years. He served active terms of duty in Bosnia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
His military service includes numerous awards and medals – ARCM, AAM-2, GGMDL-ARMY, AR-Comp-ACHMVT-Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal, GWOTS Medal, SC Active Service Medal, SC MOB Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Medal.
Jonathan was a front line Infantryman serving and protecting his country well. His strength lay in his huge heart. Jonathan would write home to family to send chocolate so he could give it to the refugee children stranded in the middle of war torn areas.
Jonathan worked with numerous companies in the local HVAC industry as a service technician. He leaves behind many friends and co-workers.
Jonathan was predeceased by his father Michael Wayne Bentley. Jonathan is survived by his four children: son Jacob, daughter Jayden, and twin daughters Madelyn and Claire; his brother Michael Bentley, wife Keri and children Trinity, Kaylee, Alaina, and Lillia; grandmother Shirley Bentley; uncle Derek Bentley; aunt and surrogate mother, Carolyn Baker and her husband Carlton; niece Kaila Broome; cousin Kelli Fenters, husband Allen, and children Ridgley and Robert; cousin Kimberly Booker and children Kaiser and Kinsley.
There will be a visitation and receiving of friends on Monday, September 17th, from 6-8PM at Mackey Funerals & Cremations located at 311 Century Drive (off Pleasantburg Dr.).
There will be a military honors burial on Tuesday, September 18th at 1:00PM (sharp) at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, located at 140 Inway Drive (off Belton Highway 76) Anderson, S.C.
