Judy Slea

She was born August 29, 1948 in Greenville, SC to Doyle and Lee Johnson of Taylors. Judy began her career as a lab tech, but put herself through nursing school in Virginia to become an RN. She had a long career with the Greenville Hospital System (now Prisma) and retired from the recovery room at Greenville Memorial Hospital in 2014 after 30 years of nursing at various hospitals. Upon retirement, Judy relocated to Rock Hill, SC in order to live with her sister and family in the area.

Judy loved life! She enjoyed traveling, singing (soprano), painting, and was a lover of animals. She was very gifted and family meant everything to her. She was one of the most loving, caring and giving people in the world, and will be sorely missed.

In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her brother Doyle Johnson, Jr. (Amy) of Gainesville, GA. She is survived by her sisters Yvonne Barr (Richard) of Rock Hill and Doyleen White (Reese) of Hoeshton, GA; nieces Leanna Mazzone (Stefen) of Rock Hill, Dr. Cristy White Gaddy (Thom) of Jefferson, GA, Mary Elizabeth Johnson of Charlotte, NC and Virginia Johnson of Atlanta; grand-nephew Nathan Gaddy of GA Tech, grand-nieces Lily Gaddy, Evie Gaddy and Mia Gaddy of Jefferson, GA; and her beloved dog, Emma.

A celebration of Judy’s life will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. A reception, Judy’s Farewell Party, will occur immediately after the service.
