Karen Spencer LaVelle

Formerly of Greenville, South Carolina, Karen resided in Seneca where she was an active member of Foothills Church. Karen took great pride and joy in being a homemaker and in caring for her large family. She shared more than 30 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Philip Robert LaVelle. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, travel, and many cherished memories.

Karen and Philip especially enjoyed traveling the world and sharing their love of golf. Some of their fondest memories included spending winters in Naples, Florida, taking cross-country train journeys through foreign countries, exploring the beauty and history of Germany and France, and relaxing together on Viking river cruises. These adventures, and the many moments they shared along the way, brought them great happiness and remained treasured memories throughout Karen’s life.

In addition to her husband, Karen leaves behind stepchildren Todd M. LaVelle (Deanna) and Beth Anne Eads (Ruston); grandchildren Avanelle R. Eads, Ellis P. Eads, Parker B. Eads, Reece Hilton; brothers Ken S. Spencer and Barry R. Spencer; nephews Kent Spencer (Ashley), Tyler Spencer (Jessica), Dylan Spencer, and numerous great nephews and great nieces.

Visitation will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1901 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville, SC 29609.
