Born on February 11, 1953 in Greenville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Doris Juanita Turpin and Zonnie Jones Jr.
Katie was a first grade teacher for over 30 years. She worked at McCormick, Tigerville, and Armstrong elementary schools. Devoted to her faith, she was a member of Upcountry Church.
Katie is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, John "Brad" Bradley Traynham; children John Pelham Traynham (Mara) and Tara Traynham Shuler (Jason); grandchildren Katie Claire Barton, Bradley Barton, Vada Traynham, Wyatt Shuler, Ansel Traynham, Flynt Traynham, Zella Traynham, Amos Traynham, Shelby Shuler, Zane Traynham, Stassi Traynham, Audrey Traynham, Bernard Traynham, and Barthel Traynham; as well as her brother Zonnie Jones III and nephew Zeke Jones.
A memorial service for Katie will be held on Monday, September 21 2026 at 3:00 PM at UpCountry Church, 1769 Keeler Mill Rd, Travelers Rest, SC 29690.
