Kathleen was most passionate about her family, child advocacy, and battered women. As an attorney, she served as a guardian ad litem for abused children and developed a guardian ad litem training program for the city of San Antonio. She served on boards for battered women’s shelters in San Antonio and Greenville and lobbied for legislation protecting battered women in Texas and South Carolina.
Kathleen was a devout Christian and participated in the Buncombe Street Methodist Church Healing Ministry for many years. Our children, John, Thomas, and Emily (Hendricks) and I will most remember Kathleen as a staunch advocate for the disadvantaged and for Social Justice issues. During her lifetime, Kathleen strived to do what she could to leave a world better than she came into. She was the kindest, most generous person we have ever known.
The family will hold a private service to celebrate the life of Kathleen in the future.
