In January of 1944, Kay married her late husband, Joe Ison, in New Mexico. She and Joe operated a motel in South Lake Tahoe, CA for several years. She was a homemaker for much of her life, and her pride and joy was her daughter Carolyn and two grandchildren, Scott and Chelsea, who she loved dearly. One of her greatest achievements was helping to raise Chelsea from babyhood, and she was a big influence on both of her grandchildren during their formative years.
During her retirement, Kay was an avid golfer. She once hit a hole-in-one on a golf course in Scotts Valley, CA. She also enjoyed playing pinochle at the Senior Action in Greenville.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Kelly-West and John West; her grandchildren, Scott Benny and Chelsea Leigh West; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Joe in 1990, as well as all of her siblings.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26th at 2:00pm at Greenville Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1135 State Park Rd, Greenville, SC 29609. A reception will follow the service at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to Greenville Animal Care, 328 Furman Hall Rd, Greenville, SC 29609.
