

She was born and raised in Port Townsend, WA with her twin sister at her side. She attended the Port Townsend Schools from Kindergarten through High School. She attended Washington State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Education. She also attended CWC for her 5th year certification and Alabama A&M for her master’s degree in education plus an additional 30 hours of graduate work in South Carolina.
She spent her career teaching elementary school, 18 years of which was at Brushy Creek Elementary School in Taylors. During her teaching career she received the “Teacher Of The Year” award from the South Carolina Bar Association.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 daughters, Elizabeth Hooks (Jason) and Sarah Cook, a sister, Karen Erickson (Warren) and a brother, Gary Rose (Diana). She is also survived by 3 grandsons.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 19th from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 W Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680
