She moved to South Carolina in 1972 where she raised her three children with her husband of 55 years, Bhadriah Gavurla. They made many friends through the Indian Association of Greater Greenville and the community at large.
Kusuma was a very positive, cheerful person that always had an aura of calm and a sense that everything would work out. Everyone loved her cooking, especially her biryani, and felt well looked after by her. She had a green thumb and could make any plant flourish. She was also very fashionable and had jewelry, purses and shoes to match every outfit. She enjoyed Indian movies, songs and dances, as well as watching sports with family.
Her family was her heart and soul. In additional to her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed her many sisters and brothers and nieces and nephews. Kusuma is survived by her husband, Bhadriah Gavurla; son, Raju Gavurla; daughters, Jyothsna Stokke (Keith), and Jalaja Clough (Greg); grandchildren, Nathan Clough, Priya Clough, and Matthew Stokke.
Our mom is in our soul. We love you so very much, Mom!
A visitation to celebrate Kusuma’s life will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 11am to 12:30pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
