Larry A McKinney Sr.

Larry Allen McKinney Sr., P.E., of Greenville, S.C., passed away on Wednesday January 26, 2022, surrounded by his three loving children. He was born February 17, 1942, to the late Robert Ford McKinney and Marie Hawkins McKinney.

Larry was blessed with a large, loving family. He is survived by his daughter Leslie McKinney Davis and two sons, Larry Allen McKinney Jr. (Kim) and Allen Brent McKinney (Stacie). In addition, Larry had 8 grandchildren; Alexandria Warren, (Josh) Austin Watson (Brittany), Brady Davis, Brooke McKinney, Carley McKinney, Holden McKinney, Lucas McKinney, Gavin McKinney, and two great grandchildren; Everleigh Warren and Rocklan Warren.

Larry graduated Parker High School in 1960 and Clemson University in 1964, where he received an Electrical Engineering degree. Following school, Larry led a long career from Georgia Power to Davis Mechanical to nearly 50 years at Eldeco. Larry was not only a great engineer and business leader, but he was also a serial entrepreneur starting and/or investing in multiple businesses throughout the years. Larry worked tirelessly with determination pulling many people and friends to success along the way.

Larry was predeceased by a daughter, Lori McKinney McElveen and a brother, Robert “Bobby” D. McKinney.

All gatherings will be private with only immediate family.

Larry will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and in lieu of flowers, the Larry requests that donations be made to JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation, 3504 Hwy 153 #19, Greenville, SC 29611 in honor his late daughter Lori McKinney McElveen.
