Leonidas Mentzelopoulos, 94, was born in Aegion Achaias, Greece on the 21st of May in 1929. He had a life that was filled with blessings, joy, and love. Leonidas was the Patriarch of his family, where he would unconditionally love and care for everyone…especially his wife and his two daughters.
On August 8, 2023 at 3:45pm, Leonidas joined the love of his life, Efrossini, in heaven. He was the most selfless husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Leonidas always shared his wisdom and heart with everyone he would encounter. This was true whether it was at home with his family or at his restaurant, the K&S, with his employees and customers. He became the “Candy Man”, always giving out Greek candies to put smiles on everyone’s faces. There is no other radiant soul like his and it will truly be dearly missed.
The endless words of support, love, and prayers have humbled our family. We are so very lucky to be surrounded by this outpouring of warmth during this difficult time. While we may have lost him physically, he will always be watching over us in spirit from paradise. Leonidas was an angel in human form during his life, and now he has earned his wings at the gates of heaven.
He is survived by his daughters Anastasia Mentzelopoulos and Alexandra Popov; son-in-law, Ivan Popov; granddaughter, Francine (Efrosene) Popov; sister Panagiota Papleacos; nephew Michael Balducci; niece Stacey Anamisis and her husband Tony Anamisis along with their three children…as well as many family and friends in Greece who loved him.
