I remember her as Kay.  She and her husband, Bill are among our dear friends from our years at Southside Baptist Church when it was on South  Augusta Street in Greenville.  Kay always had a ready smile.  She never spoke ill of anyone.  She took on the tasks that others would shun and did them without complaint as a service to the Lord.  She was one of the few people whom we trusted with our (then) small children and we knew she loved them and cared for them.   

She never sought any kind of high profile or "status" in her service to the Lord.  But in her devotion to her tasks and her kind heart, she became an inspiration to those who knew her.   She was a Christian, not in name only, but in word and in deed.   Our prayers are with her family during this time.  We pray that the sadness of her passing will be made easier by the joy of knowing she is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord Whom she faithfully served, and reunited with her loving husband.

 
  

Kate, as we call her, is our 1st Cousin -  My brother, Frank and I, have fond memories of the times we spent with her in Sumter and Columbia -  her family moved to Greenville  years ago - but we traveled  often to spend time with them and they visited us in Columbia.   We loved going to Aunt Estelle and Uncle Horace's home visiting with Vann and Kate and the children and  grandchildren.  Kate was an amazing woman - even with effects of Polio, she raised four daughters and helped with the care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren as much as possible.

We will miss her so much  and we will see her again in heaven -  until then we have sweet memories of her.

Cousin Lila Kate Baxley Poole transitioned from this world March 19, 2018 ... She was four years younger than me .... She carried an attractive smile and  soft voice .... mastered the challenges of effects of polio on her arm ... Was the mother of four girls  ... Loved  her family .... I have special memories of my stay with her and Uncle Horace and Aunt Estelle during one summer sesmester at University of South Carolina ... also special memories of her and Van Poole with her family at Baxley reunions in Mullins SC...

We are unable to attend her service in Greenville SC due to distance and other restrictions ... I regret very much of not being able to personally share in her going away service.  May her family and friends have blessed memories and days.
