Lisa Lydia Miller
April 15, 1934 – February 8, 2019
Lisa Lydia Miller, 84, died on February 8, 2019, in Greenville, SC, USA, soon after a fall.
She was born in Popielowka, Wolhynien, Poland, April 15, 1934. Her Polish birth certification name was 'Lidia Muller'. Her parents, Daniel and Lidia Ritter-Muller, fled Germany into Poland, pre-WWII. There, Lidia Ritter- Muller died giving birth to Lidia.
At age 5, mid-August 1939, the family fled on a troop ship back to Quebec, where Lidia dropped her beloved hat into the Atlantic. In Thorsby, Alberta, Canada, 'Muller changed to 'Miller', where Lydia cleared stumps and rocks to build a new farm.
Lydia left, and in 1952, at 18 she married Lorenz Walter Rosenthal. They had two children (surviving): David Lorenz Rosenthal, and Barbara Lynn Rosenthal-Wilson.
Lisa Lydia Miller is pre-deceased by her parents, step-mother, and 6 siblings: Arnold; Emma; Otto; Erna; Edmund, and Walter. Her sister Hedwig ('Hazel' Vaglio) is her only surviving sibling. The day my mom Lisa died, she whispered to me, "I miss the smell of tall grass and clover. On the farm, I was FREE!"
