Lucy Clarke Cooper, 92, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026.

Born on January 1, 1934, in Savannah, Georgia, Lucy was the daughter of the late Louis and Gladys Clarke. She lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.

Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Richard E. “Butch” Cooper; her parents; three sisters; brother and her grandson, Aaron Virgil.

Five years ago, Lucy moved to the Greenville area to live with her daughter, Tina, where she was surrounded by the love and companionship of family.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: William Michael (Denice) Fisher of Seneca, SC; Tina (Alan) Virgil of Five Forks, SC; Lois Jane Lang of Seneca, SC; Susan (Marvin) Dangerfield of Laurens, SC; and Clarke Xavier (Carla) Cooper of Rougemont, NC. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, her beloved sister, Lois Charrier, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Lucy was a Master Gardener whose flowers brought beauty to many. An accomplished seamstress, she found joy in reading, researching her family’s history, and preserving her heritage as a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Above all, she cherished time with her family, creating traditions and memories that will be treasured for generations.

A woman of steadfast faith, Lucy was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of the Ascension in Savannah, Georgia. After moving to South Carolina, she became a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Greer, where she continued to nurture her faith and friendships.

Lucy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, unwavering devotion to her family, and the kindness that made everyone feel welcome. Her legacy of love, creativity, and grace will live on through all who knew and loved her.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, South Carolina. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Bonaventure Cemetery, 330 Bonaventure Rd, Savannah, GA 31404. Lucy's life will be celebrated at Redeemer Lutherans' Sunday July 12th Service at 10:00 AM, 300 Oneal Rd, Greer, SC 2965. Services will be officiated by Rev. Elise T. Stringer.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered love, support, and kindness during this difficult time.
