

Mrs. Sightler was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She committed her life to the love and care of her family. Born in Greenville, S.C., to Clarence Broadus Cooper and Lula Craft Cooper, she graduated from Greenville High School and earned a baccalaureate degree in 1946 from Furman University.
She married Carey Weldon Sightler, the love of her life, on June 3, 1950, at East Park Baptist Church in Greenville. The Sightlers lived in Greenville and in Thomson, Ga., and, in 1964, moved to Pendleton where they spent most of their lives. They enjoyed a happy marriage for 65 years. Mr. Sightler died in December 2015.
Mrs. Sightler is survived by her children Miriam Gravely and husband Preston of Anderson, Myra Raffini and husband Len of Anderson, Melinda Ligon and husband Ron of Kingsport, Tenn., and Kevin Sightler and partner Brian Dunne of Atlanta, Ga.; her grandchildren Meg Gravely Wilson, Jonathan Raffini, Joshua Raffini, Jared Raffini, Emily Gravely Cain, and Laura Ligon; and 13 great-grandchildren. Her sister Frances Edwards of Simpsonville and her brother Wayne Cooper of Greer also survive her. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Jean White, and her brothers Herbert Cooper, Wilbour Cooper, and Gerald Cooper.
The funeral will be Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Greenville. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Jonathan Raffini will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brian Dunne, Preston Gravely, Ron Ligon, Jared Raffini, Joshua Raffini, and Len Raffini.
The family thanks the staffs of Garden House and Summit Place in Anderson, S.C., where Mr. and Mrs. Sightler spent their final years, and the staff of PruittHealth Hospice.
