

Born in Hampton, South Carolina on Monday, June 2, 1941 to the late William Wright and Amy Wright Cooper, Margaret Louise Wright Nix peacefully entered into the Kingdom of God on Thursday, January 14, 2021 in Greenville, South Carolina.
Margaret’s childhood years were filled with family and friends growing up in the Wheeler Hill neighborhood of Columbia, South Carolina. She spent her teenage years in Chicago, Illinois and considered the Windy City her second home. Margaret was a proud member of Booker T. Washington High School and worked for the University of South Carolina in the early 1960s.
Margaret loved to travel and experience new foods, cultures and history. She enjoyed cruises and trips with her close friend, Laverne Reeves of Savannah, Georgia. Over her lifetime, Margaret enjoy living in California, Columbia and Greenville, South Carolina as well as Savannah and Roswell, Georgia.
In January of 1992, Margaret joined Art and Mary Anna Elsey as a parenting partner in loving and raising Mary Margaret Rackett (Hunter) of Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Grace Elsey of Winston Salem, NC and Lydia Elsey of Charlottesville, VA. The girls were instilled with the values of family, learning, dedication and organization as Margaret truly devoted her life to her girls.
Margaret was a member of the Allen Temple AME Church. The family wishes to offer sincere thanks to the Reverend James Speed for his care, compassion and spiritual guidance over the past 17 years.
Margaret is survived by her son Devon Pierre Wright (Toretha), her granddaughter Aimee Wright Hood (Daniel), and great grandson, Jordin Wright of Columbia, South Carolina.
Margaret was an active member of Greenville Senior Action and truly enjoyed every event.
