Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Marilyn H. Elmer, joined her Savior in Heaven after a period of declining health. She was a teacher, textbook writer, and conference speaker. She taught in Michigan, Florida, and at Bob Jones University for 54 years. Marilyn was a charter member of Heritage Bible Church where she served faithfully for many years.
She was a farm girl from Marlette, Michigan and met her husband, Joseph Elmer, while a junior at BJU. They have been married almost 65 years.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; and her children and grandchildren, Melissa (Dan) Cruver and grandchildren Hannah, Isaiah, and Noah of Travelers Rest, SC, and Kent (Ann) Elmer and grandchildren Emalyn, Braden (Madelaine), and Jillian of Lawrenceville, GA; her brother, Beryl Hager of Marllette, MI; and her sisters, Jean Morgan of Marlette, MI and Beulah Hager of Taylors, SC.
She is predeceased by her parents, Kent J. and Hazel Smith Hager; her sisters, Vi Hager and Hilda Clendenan of Marlette, MI; her brother, Robert Hager of Marlette, MI; and her grandson, Daniel William Cruver II.
Her legacy continues in the lives of her family and her students.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 5th at 11:00 am at Heritage Bible Church in Greer. The family will receive friends before the service from 10:00 – 10:45am. A committal will follow the service at Graceland East Memorial Park.
