

Mary was born and raised in Southport, NC, by her parents, the late William Earnest Stanley Sr. and Lillie Roberts Stanley. She attended school there and later married. In the late 1960s, the family moved to Easley, SC, where Mary raised six children (three boys and three girls). She began her work career in the office of Stayon Products in Easley and later sold real estate for a while in the Easley - Greenville area.
Mary began her long and successful career in law enforcement in the mid-70s, when she became a dispatcher for the Liberty Police Department, and in the late 70s she became a dispatcher for the Easley Police Department. After several years, she decided to attend the police academy and became a uniformed officer for the Easley Police Department. Mary eventually decided to return to police dispatch and later became a dispatch supervisor for the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, where she remained until her retirement. Mary is greatly loved and cherished by her family and all who knew her.
Mary is survived by a son, John Enlow (Peggy), two daughters, Susan Enlow Smith (Jim) and Mary Enlow Dameron, thirteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, and sixteen great- great- grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, James Douglas Swafford, two sons, Gene Enlow Jr.(Becky) and Mike Enlow (Virginia), and one daughter, Cheryl Enlow Beckwith.
Services for Mary will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, with a service to follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm. Committal will be in the park immediately after the service.
