Dr. Michael Warren Ogborne

Michael W. Ogborne was born in Laurelton, New Jersey on October 31, 1939 to James and Nadeen Ogborne. His early years were spent in Lakewood, NJ, attending Lakewood and Freehold Regional High Schools. Following, he attended Valley Forge Military Academy on a track scholarship, Wake Forest University on a football scholarship, and graduated Pre-Med from Hillsdale College in Michigan. He excelled in football and track, receiving many awards as well as breaking various school records. Upon graduation at Valley Forge, Michael was awarded the prestigious Superintendent’s Award, recognizing the outstanding achievement in both his academic and military endeavors. In 1970, Michael graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and continued to practice dentistry throughout his entire life. During his 46 years of practice, he continued to learn about general dentistry, orthodontics, surgery, and most recently, mini implants. For the last 19 months, Michael was employed at DentNow in Greenville, SC where he cherished his staff and patients. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and continuing his hunger for learning. Above all, he loved flying and accumulated over 4,000 hours of flight time during which he earned his Airline Transport Pilot certificate. In 1975, Michael married Joyce Williams of Beaufort, NC. They grew their family by traveling to China in 1992 and adopting their beloved daughter, Maggie Mei. Michael is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Ogborne. On October 24, 2016, Michael obtained his new home with the Lord. In addition to his wife and daughter, he leaves behind a sister, Terri Vinck, and many family members and friends. His compassion, devotion and vigor for life is reflected in not only his love of family and friends but also his true dedication to his patients. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 1:00pm in Havelock, NC.
