on Thursday, November 19, 2020. She was born on April 16, 1931, in Martinsville, Illinois, the daughter of the late George and Ruth Carper. She came to know the Lord as her personal Savior while she was in elementary school.
Millie came to Greenville in 1952 to enroll in Bob Jones University. While attending
school she worked in the Administrative Offices, and following her graduation in 1955,
she became a full-time secretary in the Executive Offices of the University for a number
of years and then was secretary to the chairman of the Division of Music for seventeen
years before retiring.
In addition to her professional skills, Millie freely used her gifts to entertain and care for others as a quintessential hostess.
Millie lived her life in the awe and grace of God. She had a hunger and thirst for the Word, and she freely shared God’s love with others.
Surviving are her husband, Tom, and two daughters and sons-in-law, Tricia and Steve
Oss of Lincoln, NE, and Melinda and Andrew Henderson of Greenville, and five
grandchildren, Derek and Kirsten Oss, and Drew, Austin, and Alyssa Henderson; sister, Mrs. Thelma Rex of Greenville. She is preceded in death by her sister Helen Patchett.
Millie was an active member of Hampton Park Baptist Church for over forty five years.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 22, 2020 at 2pm at Hampton Park Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 3pm until 4:30 pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive.
