Born in Thomasville, GA, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Esther Pennington. She was predeceased by her sister, Sylvia (Pennington) Babcock. She was married for 62 years to her college sweetheart. She was a devoted wife and mother of three children, Tamara Finney (Larry), Todd Mitchell (Melinda) and Trish Lancaster (Mark). She was also a wonderful grandmother to eight grandchildren; Lauren, Ryan, Ellyn, Colin, Mitch, Melissa, William (Liam) and Hannah, and nine great grandchildren.
Her greatest delight was serving her Lord and family, which she did humbly and sacrificially. She especially loved to celebrate birthdays. She worked as a travel agent in various cities where she lived. As a result, Montine and Herb were able to enjoy traveling. Montine was a member of Taylors First Baptist for 37 years and participated in a mission trip to Calgary.
She was an avid tennis player in her youth and adult life, and loved to fish. She was a member of the Greenville chapter of PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization). She was known by her family and friends to love gospel hymns, children, flowers, birds and chocolate. She loved to laugh and was a hard worker, generous, loyal, and thoughtful.
Montine battled a long-term illness. Her family rejoices that she is now in heaven with her Savior. Her faith has become sight and it is truly well with her soul. “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” Proverbs 31:28.
