Born in Greenville, SC, on April 20, 1952, he was a son of the late William Francis Guthrie, Sr. and Emma Ethel Ledford Guthrie.
He retired from working in the heating and air-conditioning business. He was a United States
Army Veteran. Sergeant Guthrie fought in the Vietnam War. He was a part of the 101st
Airborne/Airmobile Rangers. He loved riding motorcycles, going to the lake, and grilling out.
The most important thing in his life was spending time with his family. In addition to his wife,
Rose Marie Guthrie, he is survived by children, Mark Guthrie (Alison) of Pickens, Lisa Moss
(Ty) of Piedmont, Diane Milton (Walter) of Liberty, and Jerry Guthrie of Easley; sibling, Richard
Guthrie (Joyce) of Greenville; grandchildren, Brandon Guthrie (Suzanne), Destiny Cobb (Jay),
Kayla Reese, Emily Arnold (Brady), Milla Blackwelder, Morgan Moss, and Junior Guthrie;
great-grandchildren, Finley Cobb, Hank Guthrie, Willow Cobb, and Nora Guthrie. He was
predeceased by six brothers, William Francis Guthrie Jr., Leonard Nathan Guthrie, Grady Bryan
Guthrie, Kelvin Isaiah Guthrie, David Samuel Guthrie, and James Ellis Ray Guthrie.
A visitation for Naaman will be held Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM at Mackey
Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive, 311 Century Drive, Greenville, SC 29607, followed
by a celebration of life service at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnel 2 Towers
Foundation, or monetary gifts to Rose Guthrie.
