Norma Jean Hunter

Norma Jean Hunter, age 88, widow of the late Claude Hunter, Jr., passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Williard Eugene and Pearl Hamby. Mrs. Hunter was retired from Woodside Mill and was a member of Southside Assembly of God. She loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Hunter is survived by two daughters, Gail Bowers (Andy) and Cindy Hampson (Chuck); five grandchildren, Chris Bishop, Joshua Bishop, Jason Bowers, Andrea Barlow (Steve), and Dana Jackson (Jeff); 13 great grandchildren; a brother; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Mackey Funerals & Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609 with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.

Gail, CIndy and family, my thoughts, love and prayers are with all of you. God blessed you with wonderful parents and the blessed hope of external life through Christ. Although I understand the time of loss, I join you in the celebration of Norma life and home going. We know there are many loved ones who were there rejoicing with her as she entered her heavenly home. May God bless you with precious memories to sustain you in this hour and the days to come.
