Pamela Blackburn

April 24, 1954June 19, 2020

Pamela Cecil Blackburn, born April 24, 1954, of Simpsonville, South Carolina passed away on June 19, 2020.

Daughter to the late Charles and Elizabeth Cecil, Pam is survived by her husband of 46 years, Edward Blackburn, their five children; Edward (DeAnna) of Greenville, Charles (Laurel) of Cape Coral, Florida, Matthew, (Andy) of Washington DC, and twins Andrew (Alex), and Joseph, both of Charleston, South Carolina, her brother Charles Cecil, and two sisters, Charlene Snowden, and Cynthia Cecil.

Pam, affectionately referred to as Gippy by her Grandchildren, is the proud Grandmother to Elizabeth, Adam, Bennett, Allie and Montis.

In addition to providing never-ending love and support to her five children and five grandchildren, Pam’s graciousness extended well beyond her immediate family to other loved ones.

Pam loved a good book, sweet tea, Princess Di, Judge Judy, all types of accessories, food recipes, frog decor, and a good phone conversation.

Gippy’s touch and kindness will live forever in those of us fortunate enough to have been blessed to know her.

Services will be held at St. John’s in the Wilderness Episcopal Church in Flat Rock, North Carolina. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the service is restricted to immediate family. Internment will be on the grounds of St. John’s. There will be a celebration of life held in Greenville after Covid-19.

I don't know where to begin. Pam and I shared so many laughs and tears throughout the years. She was an amazing lady and friend. She was the most caring and generous person I know. She always had a shoulder for me to cry on and in true friend fashion would cry along with me,then she would crack a joke and we would laugh our heads off. My favorite story of Pam is when we were shopping in Belks one day and a lady came up to her and told her she loved her purse. In true Pam fashion she emptied the contents into a belk bag and handed the purse to the lady and said I have enjoyed this purse, now it's your turn. There is no one like her. I love you Pam. Give my grandma a kiss from me.

Pam and I shared a wonderful friend - Sandra. Several years ago, Sandra introduced Pam and me. I have been so blessed by Pam's generosity to me over the years. She gave me countless numbers of clothes, some of which are still in my wardrobe. I have two of Pam's beautiful jackets that I love because they represent her personality - full of life and fun.
I am truly thankful to have known Pam, and honor her memory. She was a God-send.

My sincere condolences to the Blackburn family. After I moved to NC my contact with Pam has been through Facebook, but we always kept in touch. I will surely miss my friend. I am broken-hearted. 💔

I am praying for the whole Blackburn family. A few years ago I had a storage unit that I needed to empty. Pam was Kind enough to inform me that her neighborhood was having an annual yard sale and allowed me to use her garage and driveway to sale the items that I had in storage. This Lady was a very Special & Generous person. Rest In Peace Pam.

Pam was my second mother. I met her when I was in 8th grade at OLR and remained close with her until yesterday. I loved her so much and will miss her more than anyone can know. Pammy, thank you for taking care of us when we needed you. I never would’ve become the person I am today without your influence in my life. To the boys...I love you and am just a phone call away. My heart is broken.
