

He was born on March 10, 1934, in Hải Dương, Vietnam, to Vũ Ngọc Ấm and Vũ Thị Thược. Pierre is survived by his beloved wife, Nhã “Teresa” Vũ; his children and their spouses: Phong & JiaYing Zhang, Duy & Thoa, Dang & Michael Gendreau, Viet & Phuong Phan, and Trinh & Albert Johnson; his grandchildren: Benjamin, Justin, Andrew, Connor, Alexis, Brandon, Cali, Lina, Levi, and Beklin; and his two sisters: Mão Thúy Trần and Phi Thúy Phạm.
In January 1965, Pierre married his love, Nhã “Teresa” Vũ. He served as a co-pilot in the South Vietnamese Air Force for 20 years. Following the fall of Saigon, he and his wife courageously fled Vietnam with their five young children in search of a better future. The Vũ family arrived in Memphis, Tennessee with the support of their extended family. Pierre and Teresa worked tirelessly to build a new life for their family. He held roles as a maintenance worker at a Catholic school and a mechanic at Memphis International Airport. Eventually, Pierre became a small business owner operating laundromats and convenience store.
Later in life, Pierre and his wife relocated to Greer, SC. He worked as a store auditor for R.L. Jordan Oil Company until retiring in 2008. Pierre spent his retirement pursuing many hobbies which included painting, sculpting, composing music, and poetry. He remained a pillar of the Vietnamese community and a faithful parishioner at Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church. His legacy of resilience and creativity lives on through his family.
A visitation will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, located at 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609, on February 6, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church, located at 2020 Gibbs Shoals Rd, Greer, SC 29650, on February 7, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
