She was born in Archbold, Ohio, the daughter of Elmer E. and Esther Slagle Rupp.
She attended Bob Jones University and was a graduate of the Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Paul Hess; daughter, Christine Hess of Pleasant Bay, Nova Scotia; son, David Hess of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Betty Anne Rupp of Greenville, SC; and fourteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters; Pauline Rupp and Ruthann Treadway; and four brothers, James, Richard, Elmer, and Eddie Rupp.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker. She was also involved in various church related activities including teaching children, migrant ministry, Ladies Missionary Society, and assisting her husband in deacon ministries.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Hampton Park Baptist Church (Collins Building); Greenville, SC with a visitation to follow.
