Phyllis Gailey Nix

She is survived by her faithful companion for many years, Diablo, who stayed by her side.

She is also survived by her son, Steven Jason Melton of Simpsonville,SC; and her daughters, Theresa Michele Wells (Jimmy Lee) of W. Pelzer, SC; Carmen Denise Melton of Augusta, GA. ; Erica Lynne Melton of Columbia, SC; and brother, Danny Gailey of Clinton, SC. Children by marriage: Randy Nix (Diane), Tina Steen (Marion), and Johnny Nix.

She grew up in College Park and Habersham, GA, and moved to SC as a young girl against her liking. She was the daughter of the late William Lonnie Gailey and Laura Marie Marsengill Trantham. She was a loving, kind, and thoughtful person who loved to work in her yard and did wonderful landscaping and had the greenest thumb of anyone we know. She was a wonderful seamstress and when her children were growing up, they never had to wear store bought clothes; they always came home to new outfits made to wear the next day. She kept a clean house, cooked the best homemade meals (especially homemade Banana Pudding made from scratch with meringue), and was always busy taking care of her children, her home and everything she loved.

Grandchildren: Amanda Sheree Simmons (Jason)of W. Pelzer, SC, Zachary Taylor Richardson , Allyssa Marie Maloney, Olivia Loraine Melton.

Great Grandchildren: Brailyn Faith Wells-Simmons, Blake Malachi Simmons, Abbigail Simmons, Adalyn Sheree Simmons, Pharaoh Omari Austin, Michael Danny Teddy Blood.

Preceded in death by her middle sister Priscilla Dianne Gailey, and first husband and father of her children, Larry Howard Melton.
