She was born in Greenville county, the daughter of the late J.H. (Bob) and Ruby Holcombe Henderson. Rachel graduated in 1953 from Ellen Woodside High School as Valedictorian of her class. She worked in the medical field in various offices around Greenville. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley where she served as a greeter. She loved meeting people and had many wonderful friends. She was a former member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church in Moonville. She was a part of the Ladies Auxillary at Belmont Fire Department.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Suzanne and DeWayne Martin. She is survived by a sister-in-law Sally Henderson Tice (Tony). She is also survived by special cousins and precious nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and loving husband, Rachel was preceded in death by her brothers Charles H. (Bud) Henderson, Jack Carroll Henderson and a nephew Chris C. Henderson.
Visitation will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place in the chapel at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Dr. David Gallamore of Rock Springs Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens, 7784 Augusta Road, Piedmont, SC 29673 on August 20, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
