Dr. Raju Patnam

Raju Patnam MD, 56 of Simpsonville, passed away at Greenville Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family on July 20, 2019. He was born on January 2, 1963 in Chennai, India to Pakkiraiah and Lakshminarasamma Patnam.

Dr. Patnam was a respected member of the medical community of Greenville for 18 years. He served as a physician at Greenville Medical Associates for the past 11 years. Raju took care of many patients in the Greenville community from children to the elderly and enjoyed getting to know them and their families. He was also a beloved member of the Indian-American community in Greenville, participating in many holiday celebrations and Hindu temple functions.

Raju attended S.K.P.D. Boy’s Higher Secondary School and Madras Medical College in Chennai, India. Following his training in India, he moved to the United States to pursue further medical training in family practice in Monroe, Louisiana.

Dr. Patnam is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Sumitha; his son Nathan and his daughter, Anjali; his parents, Pakkiraiah and Lakshminarasamma Patnam; his brother, Sanjeevi (Sathya); and sister, Sujatha (Babu); as well as several family members on his wife’s side of the family.

The family wishes to thank the community for their outpouring of love and kindness.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 22nd from 6:00-8:00 pm and a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society in South Carolina.
