Dick married his bride, Clara Duke Crawford, on December 15, 1946, and they were happily married for 72 years. He loved his wife and his family, doting on them throughout the years as one with a selfless heart would do. He was always a giver, helping others in their time of need.
At 17, Dick joined the Navy and proudly served his country. In the years following, he built a career in management for Binswanger Glass Company, where he retired in 1994.
Later in life, Dick was honored with an Honor Flight, one of the shining moments in his life. He was also a faithful giver of blood and during his lifetime, donated over 26 gallons to give others a chance a life.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Clara Crawford; his daughters, Dianne L. LaGow (Robert Morris) and Sharon C. Clanton; his grandchildren, Peter T. LaGow (Stephen Tackney), Christopher J. LaGow (Charity), Nicholas H. Clanton, and Stephanie D. Digh (Karey); and his great-grandchildren, Steven LaGow, Katherine LaGow, Caroline LaGow, Wyatt LaGow, Annika LaGow, Colton LaGow, Easton LaGow, Hazel LaGow, Cohen Digh, and Finn Digh.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive. A reception will follow the service in the Kirkland Room.
