Dick was born on March 16, 1941, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Charlotte Mishler and Florence Seeley. After graduating from Calumet High School in Gary, Indiana, in 1959, he joined the United States Marine Corps, serving honorably for five years in multiple countries. Following his military service, he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Bob Jones University. Dick devoted most of his life to educating young people and investing in future generations.
While in high school, Dick met his sweetheart, Lois Blink. After Lois shared the good news of Jesus Christ with him, Dick accepted Christ as his personal Savior in the summer of 1959. On April 6, 1962, while serving in the Marine Corps, he married Lois. Together they shared 64 years of marriage and built a loving family. They were blessed with four children, 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought them immense joy.
After completing college, Dick and Lois moved their growing family to Raleigh, North Carolina, where he taught science and served as principal of Wake Christian Academy for ten years. In 1979, the family relocated to Oxford, Michigan, where Dick became administrator of Oxford Christian Academy while continuing to teach high school science. In 1986, the Seeleys moved to Greenville, South Carolina, where Dick joined the faculty of Bob Jones Academy, teaching math and science. He also taught physics through BJ LINC and worked for BJU Press as a contributing author of several science textbooks and laboratory manuals until his retirement.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Lois (Blink) Seeley; his four children, David (Kim) Seeley, Donald Seeley, Dwight (Amy) Seeley, and Diane (Mark) Zimmer; his sister, Beverly; his stepbrothers, Dale, Bob, and Donald; and his stepsisters, Sharon and Fran.
A faithful member of Heritage Bible Church, Dick served as both a deacon and elder for more than 18 years. Beyond his love for teaching and ministry, he enjoyed woodworking and skillfully crafted beautiful furniture for his home, his children, and his grandchildren.
Dick leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service. He impacted countless students, colleagues, friends, and family members through his godly example and dedication to others. Though he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in the assurance that he is now in the presence of his Savior, free from pain and suffering.
Dick sought to live each day according to the truth of Galatians 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Heritage Bible Church, 2005 Old Spartanburg Rd, Greer, SC 29650, from 12:00pm until 1:45pm. A funeral service will follow at 2pm.
