Bob was born December 28, 1946 in Greenville, South Carolina and passed away July 29, 2026. He grew up in Travelers Rest and graduated from Parker High School. He graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts of Architecture.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lacey Anne Casteel Ellis, whom he was married to and devoted to for over forty years.
He is survived by his children: Chad Ellis (wife Beck) of Greenville, Jeremy Ellis of Washinton, DC, Jay Taylor (wife Megan) of Beaufort, SC, and Curtis Taylor (wife Hope) of Greenville, SC. He had four grandchildren: Katherine Taylor, Grace Taylor, Langdon Taylor, and Adelle Taylor. All four of his grandchildren are attending his alma mater, Clemson University.
Bob was passionate about being an architect and designed over 1700 commercial and residential projects in sixteen different states. Over his fifty-plus year career, he received several national, regional, and local awards. He enjoyed being a part-time instructor and teacher at Greenville Tech and Clemson University so he could pass on his skills. Throughout his profession, he was a member of the American Institute of Architects and served on the National Trust of Historical Preservation as well as the Clemson Architectural Foundation.
Bob enjoyed serving and being a part of many community organizations including City of Greenville Planning Commission (Chairman), Christ Episcopal Church (Warden, Vestry, Convention Delegate), Founder and President of the Parker Foundation, Poinsett Club (Chairman), Rotary Club, Sertoma Club, Miss South Carolina Pageant (Treasurer), Stone Lake POA (President), Cliff Ridge Colony, Greenville Little Theatre (Chairman), Historical Preservation Society of Greenville, Parker Alumni Association, Greenville Tech Advisory Board, Greenville County Library (Design Review Committee) and Executive Ministries.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 5 to 7 pm at Mackey Funeral and Cremations at 1 Pine Knoll Dr, Greenville, SC 29609. The funeral service will held Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2 pm at Christ Church Episcopal, 10 N Church St, Greenville, SC 29601, followed by reception.
