You were one of the first people I met in Japan, fresh out of boot camp and A school. We quickly became friends and your friends became my friends. The first person to show me around Japan; you taught me how to have a great time and there is no denying, we had fun. You made being young and so far away from home easy and even when we returned to the U.S., we still shared great times. You could make anyone laugh, no matter their mood. Thank you for always encouraging me to spread my wings and be my best me. I will cherish our memories always. I am Blessed to have had the honor of meeting your Mom and sister and although I can't be there to celebrate your life with them, I am there in spirit and I am praying for the entire family and all those that knew and loved you. My sincerest most heartfelt condolences to all of you. Rest peacefully Robert Nolan Redd. Rest peacefully. ❤

I received a phone call early Tuesday from some Navy family that was hard to take and hear. Scooter simply was a man among boys. We connected right away. We were just two boys from the Carolina’s in a foreign land called Japan. 5 years of hard work passed and he received Bupers orders to Jacksonville, Florida and I to NSI and subsequently NSU to receive a commission. It seems like yesterday.

Scooter I love you and with a extremely heavy heart I will never forget you. I prayed that you got your heart right as I did with the Heavenly Father. Real talk: with one tear rolling down my face, Christ sacrifice, he gave, he resurrected and we live for him. Humble yourself and welcome 🙏 him in. Life is not promised and no one knows the hour. I will be by your moms side my brother.

Man, I don’t even know where to begin. Redd has a personality that shined like nobody and could lift you up when you weren’t feeling it. Many many nights hanging out in the barracks laughing with this guy! You are an amazing soul man!
